68th Annual Massing of the Colors and Service (Oct. 12)

On Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, the San Diego Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) will host their 68th Annual Massing of the Colors and Service of Remembrance Ceremony.

The ceremony will occur from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, 2125 Pan American E Rd in Balboa Park.

Hundreds of guests, JROTC, ROTC, Scouts, and other community color guards are expected to attend, including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sons of the American Revolution.
The keynote speaker is retired U.S. Air Force Officer, Lieutenant Colonel David J. Worley, Commander-in-Chief (CINC), the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW).

Massing of the Colors is an annual patriotic ceremony held across the nation to rededicate our faith in the United States, to present our support to the National Colors and the servicemen and servicewomen those colors represent, and remember the sacrifice of our military members who have died defending our freedoms.

The ceremony is open to the public, free to attend, and family friendly. There is free parking in Balboa Park, behind Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

MOWW is comprised of patriotic commissioned and senior non-commissioned officers from all uniformed services, spouses, and descendants. The MOWW motto is, “It is nobler to serve than to be served.” MOWW does this through outreach programs, patriotic education, support of Scouting and JROTC/ROTC, and recognition of public service.
