America’s Warrior Partnership Awards $60,000 to 3 San Diego Military Veteran Groups
Murphy Development Company and Lusardi Construction Company raised funds for the annual Patriot’s Pour campaign
America’s Warrior Partnership announced today that it has awarded $60,000 in grants from its annual Patriot’s Pour, a campaign created to raise donations for holistic military veterans programs, to San Diego-based military veterans organizations. The funds, raised by Murphy Development Company and Lusardi Construction Company, were awarded to three San Diego-based military veterans and community service groups.
The three local nonprofits receiving the grants include Vets’ Community Connections, a nonprofit that assists veterans and their families with integrating into the San Diego community; 2-1-1 San Diego, a free 24-hour confidential phone service helping San Diego residents connect with community services; and the San Diego Veterans Coalition, a nonprofit inspiring and encouraging collaboration and cooperation among service providers and veteran service organizations to improve support for veterans within the San Diego region.
Organizations were chosen based on America’s Warrior Partnership’s proprietary Community Assessment Tool, which helps to determine the community’s ability to serve local veterans. The assessment concluded that “leadership” among local veteran-serving organizations was an area of strength, while “proactive outreach” was an area that could be better supported due to San Diego County’s large size. America’s Warrior Partnership identified local organizations that understood the importance of holistic Community Integration and could work in collaboration to implement and enhance proactive outreach programs to connect veterans with the resources and opportunities they have earned through their military service.
“Local veteran-serving organizations are a pillar of the San Diego community, which has one of the nation’s largest military footprints with more than 222,000 veterans and 229,000 active-duty service members living in the county,” said Jim Lorraine, President and CEO of America’s Warrior Partnership. “No single group can effectively serve every one of these veterans on its own, so Patriot’s Pour offers a way for our Community Integration program to support the entire community to amplify local veteran services. We thank Murphy Development and Lusardi Construction for bringing the campaign to San Diego and driving immense support from local groups to give back to our veterans.”
As Patriot’s Pour participants, Murphy Development and Lusardi Construction offered their vendors, subcontractors, tenants, and brokers the opportunity to offer funds in support of San Diego veterans. A donation was generated for every yard of concrete the companies poured at The Campus at San Diego Business Park Building 3 project in 2019.
“We are proud to support our San Diego veterans and help them find the resources they need,” said R. Michael Murphy, President of Murphy Development Company. “Thank you to America’s Warrior Partnership for the opportunity to support our veterans, and thank you, veterans, for your tremendous service.”
“Lusardi Construction Company, together with our valued subcontractors and consultants, are blessed to be able to support our veterans of this great country,” said John A. Bailey, Chairman of Lusardi Construction Company.
