Sponsorships are available and golf packages to participate in play include early-bird specials at $900 per foursome or $225 per player up until February 23, 2020. Golfers of all levels are encouraged to participate in this scramble format tournament. Shelter to Soldier serves the post-9/11 veteran population by providing psychiatric service dogs at no charge to veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other injuries associated with combat. The national statistics in this category are startling: on average, 670,000 dogs are euthanized nationwide annually. Every day, an estimated 16 U.S. veterans lose their lives to suicide. STS has achieved significant results to help alleviate the burden of mental illness for veterans and provide a new purpose for homeless dogs, documented by success stories on the STS website at sheltertosoldier.org.
According to Kyrié Bloem, Co Founder and Vice President of Shelter to Soldier, “We’re tremendously honored that The React Foundation has embraced our cause as the presenting sponsor for our first annual fundraising golf tournament and we’re equally honored that we have support from the community from our additional sponsors. Together with these generous supporters, we’re making a significant impact on the veteran and shelter dog populations in need in San Diego and surrounding communities throughout Southern California. Events like this one help us perpetuate the impact we have and facilitate our outreach to those who need this life-changing support the most.”
